No, by the moon! 32 by the retreating night, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 As a warning unto men, 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 About the criminals, 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
