He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him you give attention. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
