Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
