۞ We had earlier given Abraham true direction, for We knew him well. 51 When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?" 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 Abraham said, "Indeed, you and your fathers have been clearly misguided." 54 They said, 'What, hast thou come to us with the truth, or art thou one of those that play?' 55 He said: Nay! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who brought them into existence, and I am of those who bear witness to this: 56 "And by Allah, I have a plan for your idols - after ye go away and turn your backs".. 57 He shattered them all, except the biggest among them, that perhaps they may question it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 They said: We heard a youth speak of them, who is called Ibrahim. 60 They said: "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may testify." 61 "Did you do this to our gods, O Abraham?" they enquired. 62 'No' he replied. 'It was their great one amongst them that did it. Ask them, if they are able to speak' 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 With their heads cast down they said, "Abraham, you know that idols do not speak. How then can you ask such a question?" 65 He said: Worship ye then instead of Allah that which cannot profit you at all, nor harm you? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They said, 'Burn him, and help your gods, if you would do aught.' 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 And they intended to do him an evil, but We made them the worst losers. 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 And We bestowed him Ishaq, and Yaqub the grandson; and We made all of them worthy of Our proximity. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (mankind) by Our Command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds, performing Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and the giving of Zakat and of Us (Alone) they were worshippers. 73 And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd. 74 We admitted him to Our mercy; he was a righteous man. 75
