The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
