The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ There hath approached unto mankind their reckoning, while they in neglect are turning away. 1 Whenever any fresh admonition comes to them from their Lord they barely heed it and remain immersed in play, 2 their hearts being set on other concerns. The wrong-doers whisper to one another: "This person is no more than a mortal like yourselves. Will you, then, be enchanted by sorcery while you see?" 3 He said: "My Lord knows well all that is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He is All-Hearing, All- Knowing." 4 But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]." 5 (As to those) before them, not one of the populations which We destroyed believed: will these believe? 6 And We did not send (Prophets) before you except men, to whom We sent divine revelations – therefore, O people, ask the people of knowledge if you do not know. 7 And We did not create them (the Messengers, with) bodies that ate not food, nor were they immortals, 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 [O MEN!] We have now bestowed upon you from on high a divine writ containing all that you ought to bear in mind will you not, then, use your reason? 10
