۞ Say, "I only advise you of one [thing] - that you stand for Allah, [seeking truth] in pairs and individually, and then give thought." There is not in your companion any madness. He is only a warner to you before a severe punishment. 46 Say: "The reward I ask is for yourself. My reward is due from none but God; and He is witness over everything." 47 Say: Surely my Lord utters the truth, the great Knower of the unseen. 48 Say: "The truth has now come [to light, and falsehood is bound to wither away]: for, falsehood cannot bring forth anything new, nor can it bring back [what has passed away]." 49 Affirm, "If I am in error, I shall carry the burden thereof; and if I am rightly guided, it is because of what my Lord has revealed to me. Truly, He is all-hearing and near at hand." 50 Ah, if thou couldst see when they are terrified, and there is no escape, and they are seized from a place near at hand, 51 And they will say (in the Hereafter): "We do believe (now);" but how could they receive (Faith and the acceptance of their repentance by Allah) from a place so far off (i.e. to return to the worldly life again). 52 For they had disbelieved in it before; and they hurl allegations without seeing, from far away. 53 A gulf will exist between them and their desires on the Day of Judgment like the similar people who lived before. They, too, had lived in doubt and uncertainty (about the life hereafter). 54
