The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
44 verses, revealed in Mecca after Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah) before The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place 1 The Unbelievers, the which there is none to ward off,- 2 (A Penalty) from Allah, Lord of the Ways of Ascent. 3 On that Day (of Judgment), long as fifty thousand years, the angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him. 4 Wherefore be thou patient with a becoming patience. 5 Lo! they behold it afar off 6 but We see it near at hand. 7 On that Day the heaven shall become like molten copper, 8 And the mountains will be like wool, 9 and no bosom friend will enquire about any of his bosom friends 10 Though they shall be made to see one another. Fain would the guilty ransom himself from the torment of that Day by his children. 11 And his wife and his brother, 12 And his kindred who sheltered him, 13 And all, all that is on earth,- so it could deliver him: 14 But never. It is pure white flame 15 stripping away his skin, 16 It shall insistently summon him who turned his back and retreated, 17 and who accumulated wealth without spending it for a good purpose. 18 ۞ Verily, man (disbeliever) was created very impatient; 19 When evil comes upon him he is impatient; 20 but when good comes upon him, he is grudging 21 Save worshippers. 22 [and] who incessantly persevere in their prayer 23 And those in whose wealth is a recognised right. 24 for the needy and the deprived, 25 And those who hold to the truth of the Day of Judgment; 26 And those who are fearful of their Lord's doom - 27 surely the chastisement of their Lord is a thing none can feel secure from 28 And those who guard their chastity, 29 Save with their wives and those whom their right hands possess, for thus they are not blameworthy; 30 But those who seek more than this will be transgressors; 31 And those who keep their pledges and their covenant, 32 who testify to what they have witnessed, 33 And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer: 34 Those shall dwell in Gardens, honoured. 35

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
