Yea, indeed, We have created you, and then formed you; and then We said unto the angels, "Prostrate yourselves before Adam!" - whereupon they [all] prostrated themselves, save Iblis: he was not among those who prostrated themselves. 11 [Allah] said, "What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?" [Satan] said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay." 12 Allah said: 'Then get you down from here. It does not behove you to be arrogant here. So be gone. You will be among the humiliated.' 13 He said: respite me till the Day they shall be raised up. 14 He said: Lo! thou art of those reprieved. 15 He said: Now, because Thou hast sent me astray, verily I shall lurk in ambush for them on Thy Right Path. 16 Then I will come to them from before them and from behind them and on their right and on their left, and You will not find most of them grateful [to You]." 17 (Allah) said (to Iblis) "Get out from this (Paradise) disgraced and expelled. Whoever of them (mankind) will follow you, then surely I will fill Hell with you all." 18 Then the Lord said, "Adam, stay in the garden with your spouse and eat whatever you want therein, but do not go near this tree lest you transgress". 19 But Satan whispered to them to make apparent to them that which was concealed from them of their private parts. He said, "Your Lord did not forbid you this tree except that you become angels or become of the immortal." 20 he swore to both: 'Indeed, I am to you among the advisers' 21 and thus he led them on with deluding thoughts. But as soon as the two had tasted [the fruit] of the tree, they became conscious of their nakedness; and they began to cover themselves with pieced-together leaves from the garden. And their Sustainer called 22 They said: "O our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we shall certainly be lost." 23 He said: 'Descend, each of you an enemy to each other. The earth will be a dwelling place for you and an enjoyment for a time. 24 He told them that, on earth, they would live, die, and be resurrected. 25
