The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
