The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 It will be a place of return 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
