Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha Mim: 1 A revelation from the most benevolent, ever-merciful, 2 a Book whose revelations are well expounded, an Arabic Quran for people who possess knowledge, 3 Giving glad tidings [of Paradise to the one who believes in the Oneness of Allah (i.e. Islamic Monotheism) and fears Allah much (abstains from all kinds of sins and evil deeds) and loves Allah much (performing all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)], and warning (of punishment in the Hell Fire to the one who disbelieves in the Oneness of Allah), but most of them turn away, so they listen not. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say thou: "I am but a man like you: It is revealed to me by Inspiration, that your Allah is one Allah: so stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." And woe to those who join gods with Allah,- 6 Those who give not the Zakat and they are disbelievers in the Hereafter. 7 "The ones who believe and perform good deeds shall have a reward which will never be withheld from them." 8
