And the Thamud belied the warnings. 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us? Nay, but he is a rash liar. 25 Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one! 26 Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Each one's right to drink being established (by turns). 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 32 The people of Lut treated the warning. as a lie. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And he indeed had warned them of Our blow, but they did doubt the warnings. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning. 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40
