The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, 15 crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
