The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
