The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
