The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 The piercing star! 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
