Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets set forth 14 and arranged cushions 15 and well spread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
