Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 Abraham asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 "Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 and no sincere friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
