The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 and purify your robes, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
