The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Closer and closer to mankind comes their Reckoning: yet they heed not and they turn away. 1 Never does a new reminder come to them from their Lord but they listen to it with dalliance. 2 their hearts are distracted and forgetful. The wrongdoers confer together secretly, saying, "Is not this man a mortal like you? Will you succumb to magic with your eyes open?" 3 The Prophet said: my Lord knoweth the word in the heavens and the earth, and He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 They have said, "It, (the Quran), is only the result of some confused dreams. He is only a poet. He should show us some miracles, as the ancient Prophets had done." 5 Not one of the towns (populations), of those which We destroyed, believed before them (though We sent them signs), will they then believe? 6 (O Muhammad), even before you We never sent any other than human beings as Messengers, and to them We sent revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. 7 And We did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth]. 8 Then we fulfilled the promise unto them. So we delivered them and whom We would, and We destroyed the prodigals. 9 Now, We have sent down to you a Book in which is your Remembrance. Will you not understand? 10
