Said the Council of the people of Pharaoh, 'Surely this man is a cunning sorcerer 109 "He wishes to drive you away from the land. So what do you advise?" 110 They said, "Let him and his brother wait awhile, and send into the cities summoners, 111 who should bring to you every skillful magician." 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said, "We must have our reward if we are to gain a victory over him (Moses)". 113 He said, 'Yes, indeed; and you shall be among the near-stationed.' 114 They said: O Moses! Either throw (first) or let us be the first throwers? 115 'Throw' he replied. And when they threw, they bewitched the people's eyes and terrified them, and produced great sorcery. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 So they were defeated there and then, and were returned disgraced. 119 And down fell the sorcerers, prostrating themselves 120 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 121 "The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)." 122 Said Pharaoh: "Have you come to believe in him ere I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have cunningly devised in this [my] city in order to drive out its people hence! But in time you shall come to know, [my revenge]: 123 "I will have your hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, and have you all crucified." 124 They said: Surely to our Lord shall we go back: 125 And you do not resent us except because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You]." 126
