If affliction befalls you, it is what your own hands have earned, but He pardons a lot. 30 And you cannot escape from Allah (i.e. His Punishment) in the earth, and besides Allah you have neither any Wali (guardian or a protector) nor any helper. 31 Ships sailing in the ocean like ensigns are a sign of His. 32 If He so wills, He can cause the winds to become still so that they will remain motionless on its surface. Surely there are many Signs in this for those who are wont to be steadfast and give thanks. 33 Or He could wreck them for what they have done; yet there is much that He pardons. 34 And those who dispute in respect of Our revelations may know that for them there is no place of shelter. 35 Whatsoever you have been given is only this life's merchandise; but what is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and place their trust in their Lord, 36 Who avoid the deadly sins, immoral acts, and forgive when they are angered, 37 who obey their Lord and establish Prayer; who conduct their affairs by consultation, and spend out of what We have bestowed upon them; 38 And those who defend themselves when they are wronged. 39 The guerdon of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereof. But whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his wage is the affair of Allah. Lo! He loveth not wrong-doers. 40 And whoso defendeth himself after he hath suffered wrong - for such, there is no way (of blame) against them. 41 blame falls only on those who wrong men and transgress on this earth without justification, such will have a painful punishment, 42 And verily, whosoever shows patience and forgives that would truly be from the things recommended by Allah. 43
