۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What, are these the statues to which you cling' 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." 54 They said: Bringest thou unto us the truth, or art thou some jester? 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 Then he broke them all into pieces, sparing only the supreme one among them that they may possibly return to him. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers." 59 Some of them said: "We heard a youth called Abraham speak (ill) of them." 60 [The others] said: "Then bring him before the peoples eyes, so that they might bear witness [against him]!" 61 They said: art thou the one who hath wrought this unto our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 He answered: "Nay, it was this one, the biggest of them, that did it: but ask them [yourselves] - provided they can speak!" 63 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers. 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 Abraham said: "Do you, then, worship beside Allah a thing that can neither benefit you nor hurt you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They cried: Burn him and stand by your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 They sought to outwit him, but We made them the worst of losers. 70 But We delivered him and (his nephew) Lut (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations. 71 And We bestowed upon him ls-haq and Ya qub as a grandson; and each one We made righteous. 72 We appointed them as leaders to guide the people through Our command and sent them revelation to strive for good deeds, worship their Lord, and pay religious tax. Both of them were Our worshipping servants. 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 and We admitted him into Our mercy; he was of the righteous. 75
