Al-Najm 3 of 3
Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Does he have any knowledge of the world beyond the ken of sense-perception, and therefore, clearly sees (the Truth)? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life; 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 And that He is the Lord of the Sirius; 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 About which of the bounties of your Lord can they persistently dispute? 55 This is a (Prophet) like that of the ancient warners (Prophets). 56 The approaching event has come near. 57 None but God can avert it. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 and do they laugh instead of weeping, 60 And you are lost in play! 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
