The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 thy robes purify 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
