The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 on a great day 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Not at all - but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
