The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
