Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions lined up 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
