Said the chieftains of Firaun’s people, “He is really an expert magician.” 109 Who wants to expel you from your land [through magic], so what do you instruct?" 110 Others said: 'Put them off a while, he and his brother, and send forth to your cities gatherers 111 "To bring all the wise magicians to you." 112 And the wizards came to Pharaoh, saying: Surely there will be a reward for us if we are victors. 113 He answered: Yes, and surely ye shall be of those brought near (to me). 114 They said, “O Moosa! You may throw first – or shall we be the first to throw?” 115 He said: Throw! And when they threw they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and overawed them, and produced a mighty spell. 116 Then We directed Moses: 'Now you throw your rod.' And lo! it swallowed up all their false devices. 117 ۞ Thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed. 118 They were therefore defeated here and they turned back humiliated. 119 And down fell the sorcerers, prostrating themselves 120 saying, "We declare our belief in the Lord of the Universe, 121 The Lord of Musa and Harun. 122 But Pharaoh said: "You have come to accept belief in Him without my permission! This surely is a plot you have hatched to expel the people from the land. You will soon come to know. 123 I shall assuredly cut off alternately your hands and feet, then I shall crucify you all together.' 124 They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 125 And you do not resent us except because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You]." 126
