The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
