The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
