Therefore continue to give warning, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or do they say: “He is a poet for whom we await an adverse turn of fortune.” 30 say [to them], "Wait then: I too am waiting along with you!" -- 31 Or, do their intellects order them to do this? Or, are they an insolent people? 32 Or do they say, "He fabricated the (Message)"? Nay, they have no faith! 33 But then, [if they deem it the work of a mere mortal,] let them produce another discourse like it - if what they say be true! 34 Or were they created without there being anything, or are they the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay! they have no certainty. 36 [How could they?] Are thy Sustainer's treasures with them? Or are they in charge [of destiny]? 37 Have they a stairway whereby they overhear? Then let their listener bring an authority manifest. 38 Has (God) daughters and they sons? 39 Or is it that you (O Muhammad SAW) ask a wage from them (for your preaching of Islamic Monotheism) so that they are burdened with a load of debt? 40 Or possess they the Unseen so that they can write (it) down? 41 Do they want to hatch some plot? Those who deny the truth will be the victims of the plot. 42 Or have they an ilah (a god) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him) 43 If they should see a segment falling from the sky, they would say: "It is only a massive cloud." 44 Leave them then till they meet that day of theirs wherein they shall be made to swoon (with terror): 45 A Day whereon their plotting will avail them not at all, nor will they be succoured. 46 And there surely awaits the evildoers a chastisement beyond even that, but most of them know it not. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for thy Lord's decree, for surely thou art in Our sight; and hymn the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest, 48 And glorify Him in the night and when the stars begin to wane. 49
