The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
