Hast thou considered him who turns his back 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 and that the final end is with your Lord, 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 And He who ordains death and life; 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 and that He is the Lord of (the star) Sirius, 49 And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people), 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 and that He it is Who destroyed the people of Noah before for they were much given to iniquity and transgression. 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Are you astonished at this news, 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 While ye amuse yourselves? 61 So prostrate yourselves before God and worship him. ۩ 62
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Stars (Al-Najm). Sent down in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
