He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 To him you give attention. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
