The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and the night that falls, 17 and brightening morning, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
