And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
