The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him – We therefore made him hearing, knowing. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- 8 (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 Also there will be crystal clear goblets of silver containing the exact measure of drink which they desire. 16 And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
