The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
