The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
22 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Sun (Al-Shams) before The Fig (Al-Teen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I swear by the mansions of the stars, 1 And by the Day promised, 2 by the Witness and the witnessed, 3 may the people be condemned those who tortured (the believers) in ditches 4 Of the fuel-fed fire, 5 As they sat around it 6 And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses. 7 They had no other reason for hating them except that they believed in God the mighty, worthy of praise, 8 to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and earth. And Allah is the Witness of all things. 9 Verily those who affected the believing men and the believing women, and then repented not, theirs shall be the torment of Hell, and theirs shall be the torment of burning. 10 Surely for those who believe and do the right are gardens with rivers running by. That is the greatest success. 11 Stern indeed is your Lord's punishment. 12 It is He who originates and repeats. 13 He is the All-forgiving, the Most Loving One, 14 Owner of the Throne, the Exalted. 15 Effecter of what He intends. 16 Hath there come unto thee the story of the hosts 17 Of the Fir'awn and the Thamud? 18 In fact, the disbelievers had always rejected (Our revelations). 19 And Allah is after them, has them surrounded. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 Inscribed in a tablet preserved. 22
