When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 He said: verily these are my guests, so disgrace me not. 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
