He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble, pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
