And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people - 10 the people of Pharaoh; will they not be godfearing?' 11 'My Lord' he replied, 'I fear they will belie me 12 My heart is constrained, my tongue falters, so delegate Aaron; 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me. 14 He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing; 15 They came to the Pharaoh and said, "We are the Messengers of the Lord of the Universe. 16 "'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'" 17 Fir'awn said: brought we not thee up amongst us as a child? And thou tarriedst amongst us for many years of thy life? 18 Yet you committed the deed you did, surely you are one of the ingrates." 19 Moses replied, "I did that when I was one of the misguided, 20 Then I fled for fear of you. Then my Lord bestowed wisdom and authority on me and made me one of the Messengers. 21 "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "And what is the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?" 23 [Moses] answered: "[He is] the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them: if you would but [allow yourselves to] be convinced!" 24 Said [Pharaoh] unto those around him: "Did you hear [what he said]?" 25 [And Moses] continued: "[He is] your Sustainer, [too,] as well as the Sustainer of your forefathers of old!" 26 Pharaoh said, "This messenger who has been sent to you is surely possessed!" 27 He said, “The Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them; if you have sense.” 28 Pharaoh said: "If you take any god other than me, I will certainly make you one of those (who are rotting) in prison." 29 He said: Even though I show thee something plain? 30 Pharaoh said: "Then bring it if you are truthful at all." 31 Then he flung down his staff and it became a serpent manifest, 32 and he drew his hand (out of his armpit) and lo! it had become a shining object to the beholders. 33
