A crowd of earlier generations 39 and a multitude of the later people. 40 The Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 41 (they shall live) amid burning winds and boiling water, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 [shadows] neither cooling nor soothing. 44 Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence, 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 and constantly said: 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be restored to life? 47 Or our fathers of yore? 48 Say: 'The ancients, and the later folk 49 Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day." 50 "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)! 51 You will indeed eat from the Zaqqum tree. 52 and you shall fill therewith your bellies 53 And upon it, you will drink the hot boiling water. 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 This shall be their hospitality on the Day of Doom. 56 We created you, why will you not believe! 57 Then tell Me (about) the human semen that you emit. 58 Do you yourselves create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 You are well aware of the first creation; then, do you learn no lesson from it? 62 Have you ever considered the seed which you cast upon the soil? 63 Is it you who cause them to grow or do We? 64 If We will, We would make it broken stubble and you would remain wondering, 65 [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt; 66 Surely, we have been deprived (of the benefits)". 67 So what is your opinion regarding the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 We could make it brackish, if We pleased; so why do you not acknowledge thanks? 70 See ye the Fire which ye kindle? 71 Have you raised its tree, or We have raised it? 72 We have made it as a reminder of hell and as a utility for travellers in the jungle. 73 Then celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme! 74

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
