The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
