The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
