The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Successful indeed are the believers, 1 who are submissive to God in their prayers, 2 Who shun all frivolities, 3 Who strive for betterment; 4 Who abstain from sex, 5 Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame; 6 But whoever seeks to go beyond that, these are they that exceed the limits; 7 And who are shepherds of their pledge and their covenant, 8 and those who observe their prayers. 9 These are indeed the inheritors. 10 Who will inherit al-Firdaus. They will abide therein eternally. 11 And certainly We created man of an extract of clay, 12 Then We made him a small seed in a firm resting-place, 13 Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones, and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators. 14 Then lo! after that ye surely die. 15 Then you will all be raised on the Day of Resurrection. 16 And indeed We have created seven paths above you; and We are not unmindful of the creation. 17 We have sent a measure of water from the sky to stay on earth and We have the power to take it away. 18 With it We grow for you gardens of date-palms and vines: in them have ye abundant fruits: and of them ye eat (and have enjoyment),- 19 And a tree (olive) that springs forth from Mount Sinai, that grows oil, and (it is a) relish for the eaters. 20 And behold, in the cattle [too] there is indeed a lesson for you: We give you to drink of that [milk] which is within their bellies; and you derive many [other] uses from them: for, you eat of their flesh, 21 And on them, and on ships you are carried. 22
