And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
