And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. 139 When he fled on the laden ship, 140 And then drew lots and was of those rejected; 141 Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy. 142 Had he not glorified God, 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill. 145 And We made a gourd tree grow over him. 146 And We sent him towards a hundred thousand people, in fact more. 147 And they believed, so We gave them provision till a time. 148 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), whether the daughters are for your Lord and the sons for them! 149 Have We created the angels as females before their very eyes? 150 Now surely it is of their own lie that they say: 151 “Allah has begotten.” They are liars! 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you judge? 154 “So do you not ponder?” 155 Or, is there for you a clear warranty 156 Bring your book if what you say is true. 157 And they have appointed a relationship between Him and the jinns; and indeed the jinns surely know that they will be brought forth. 158 Exalted is Allah above what they describe, 159 except for God's sincere servants. 160 So surely you and what you worship, 161 Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial, 162 Save him who will go to hell. 163 [The angels say], "Every single one of us has his place assigned: 164 Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks, 165 "And we are verily those who declare (Allah's) glory!" 166 They used to say before: 167 If we had the account of earlier people with us, 168 we would surely have been Allah's chosen servants.” 169 But (now that the Qur'an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know! 170 And assuredly Our word hath already gone forth Our bondmen, the sent ones: 171 That they verily would be helped, 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 So turn thou aside from them for a season. 174 and watch them. They, too, will watch. 175 What! would they then hasten on Our chastisement? 176 When it descends on their courtyards, how terrible that morning will be for those who were warned! 177 And turn away from them till a time 178 and see; soon they shall see! 179 Glory to thy Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)! 180 And peace be unto those sent (to warn). 181 And praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. 182
