S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Suad, I swear by the Quran, full of admonition. 1 Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance. 2 Many a generation We did destroy before them – thereupon they cried out whereas it is not the time to escape! 3 Now these [people] deem it strange that a warner should have come unto them from their own midst - and [so] the deniers of the truth are saying: "A [mere] spellbinder is he, a liar! 4 “Has he made all the Gods into One God? This is really something very strange!” 5 And the elders among them went forth saying: “Go ahead and be steadfast in adhering to your deities. What is being said is with a design.” 6 "We have not heard (the like) of this among the people of these later days. This is nothing but an invention! 7 Hath the reminder been unto him (alone) among us? Nay, but they are in doubt concerning My reminder; nay but they have not yet tasted My doom. 8 Do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)! 10 (As they denied Allah's Message) they will be a defeated host like the confederates of the old times (who were defeated). 11 Cried lies before them the people of Noah, and Ad, and Pharaoh, he of the tent-pegs, 12 And the Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the dwellers of the wood; these were the confederates. 13 Each of them who rejected the Messenger become subject to Our punishment. 14
